Dunstone Wines
Dunstone Wines is a small boutique winery lying at the foothills of the historic Bainskloof pass in the beautiful Bovlei Valley, Wellington. This is also the home to Bovlei Valley Retreat Guest House where wine, fruit and lavender beautify the estate.
Every aspect of maintenance and care of the vineyard is done by hand..
The winery boasts with wines which have been handcrafted with passion by the family owners, Lee & Abbi Wallis. Dunstone Wines is a relatively young producer, with a total of 2.7 hectares of vines which were planted in 2003, with only three cultivars - Merlot, Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc. Every aspect of maintenance and care of the vineyard is done by hand: no machinery goes into the rows of vines, not even a tractor.
Our 2006 Shiraz collected gold at the 2007 Swiss International Airlines Awards.
The 2007 reds have been even more successful, with Dunstone Shiraz collecting a gold while still in barrels at the SA Young Wine Show, and Gold at the 2007 Veritas awards.
Our 2008 Shiraz reeled in 5 stars in the Platter Wine guide (the first 5 star in Wellington region), Gold at the International Wine Challenge in London, Gold at the old Mutual trophy awards and topped it with Double Gold at the Michelangelo awards. A true flagship of our winery!
Recently the winery added The Stone Kitchen where you can enjoy delectable meals by renowned chef Johan van Schalkwyk. Families are welcome, there is a lovely playpark on site which is safe and tranquil.
